Facial Spider Veins Laser Treatment No Exercise One Week
Is facial spider veins laser treatment and no exercise for one week after the treatment necessary? Well, depending on your spider veins, laser treatment is not really recommended as there are many other ways to get rid of your problems with spider veins. As for after the laser treatment, the patients are strongly adviced to stay away from the sun. But aside from that, they can go back to their daily routine.
Problems With Spider Veins

What are spider veins
Usually found in small clusters, spider veins are short, hair-like veins known as "telangiectasias", and are often found in conjunction with larger dilated blood vessels known as ‘reticular veins’. They can be small, purple/blue patches covering only a small area, or they can be as long as the whole thigh and be a darker green/blue colour.
Because these veins have dilated and no longer function properly, the body would have already found and alternative route for blood to pass back to the heart. For this reason, they are quite safe to remove.
Some spider veins may cause discomfort, but this is not the case for many people. Removal of the veins will also relieve any possible symptoms or discomfort.
What causes spider veins
No one really knows why spider veins develop. Some say the causes are standing on your feet too long, or not exercising enough, or perhaps you inherited them from your parents. Some suggest that maintaining a healthy weight can reduce your chances of developing them, although this certainly doesn’t mean thin people can’t develop them too. In any case, they are more commonly found on the legs, ankles and feet of women than men, and can sometimes even appear temporarily during pregnancy.
The reason more women seem to develop spider veins is thought to be oestrogen, as this hormone is known to weaken vein walls. Women who take the contraceptive pill are considered to be candidates for spider veins for this reason.
How to get rid of spider veins
The two most common procedures for removing spider veins are either sclerotherapy or laser treatment.
Sclerotherapy works by injecting a solution known as a sclerosant into the veins, which irritates them into swelling and then sticking together. Adequate compression is important for this treatment to be effective, so support stockings must be worn for a few weeks after the procedure. In many cases some of the veins would have faded and disappeared within that time, while others may take a little longer to fully fade from view.
These days, people are finding that laser therapy is the procedure of choice, as there are no invasive needles or surgery involved. Light is passed safely through the skin and directed to the veins underneath, where it is converted to heat, effectively wiping out the veins.
How quick are the results
The results from laser therapy are extremely good for most people – and fast. Some people may need up to three treatments, and in most cases veins have visibly reduced within 4-6 weeks. Veins up to 2mm in diameter can be quickly and effectively removed.
In addition, laser spider vein removal is permanent. There is no chance that these veins will redevelop because the laser has completely removed them. However, if you have a predisposition to developing spider veins, others may develop in other areas later on.
Side effects of spider vein removal
Sclerotherapy is usually quite safe, but can be painful and have a few side effects, including brown lines or spots developing, development of matted veins, or bruising. Most of these are temporary, but ulcerations that can develop near the injection site can leave permanent scars.
For this reason alone it makes sense to look into laser vein removal. Because it is not invasive and is safe for the skin, there is no scarring or hypopigmentation. Side effects can include some redness and swelling in the area as well as some bruising that usually disappears within a week.
